Our library
The library can support you with patient care, study, and research in healthcare.
Our collection includes books you can borrow along with a large digital collection of journals and ebooks. We can arrange interlibrary loans on your behalf.
The library is for staff, researchers and students from the following institutions. It's not open to the public.
- Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service
- Griffith University
- University of the Sunshine Coast
- TAFE

Visiting the library
You can use your swipe card to enter the library 24 hours a day.
We have library staff who can help you Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
The library is on the ground level of the main hospital building. Our campus map [PDF 2295.12 KB] will help you find your way.
Study spaces and facilities
We have a range of study spaces with:
- desks for quiet study
- large tables and lounge areas for quiet group work
- computers, and booths with large screens
- free Wi-Fi, printing, copying, tea and coffee.
Online library services
Queensland Health staff can:
- search the library catalogue
- ask for a literature search
- ask for a journal article
- ask for a book
- renew a book loan
- ask a question
If your literature search is urgent and relates directly to patient care, please contact the library.
Queensland Health staff can also use the library to access a range of resources, including:
- Clinical Knowledge Network (CKN) – an evidence-based clinical information portal which includes research databases, clinical guidelines, decision tools and calculators.
- DynaMed – a clinical decision support tool
- Browzine – for browsing, reading and following journals.
How to join the library
We’re part of Queensland Health Libraries.
If you work for Queensland Health, you can join the library and manage your registration online. Registration gives you access to the full Queensland Health library catalogue.
If you're a student, you're already registered with your institute's library.
Study and research support
Our staff can help you with:
- literature searching and systematic reviews
- referencing
- managing citations with programs like EndNote
- running a journal club
- general questions about learning and research.
We can see you face to face or online. Contact the library to make a booking.
Staff and students can also get up to 6 hours of free statistical support from the Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation (QCIF).

Training and workshops
We hold regular training workshops in our computer labs to help you develop your research skills. We offer tailored one on one and group training. We can also send you training videos on the following topics.
- Introduction to literature searching
- Advanced literature searching
- EndNote training

Journal clubs
Journal clubs are regular meetings that help keep your clinical knowledge up to date. You'll review research with your team to improve practice in your work area.
We can help you find articles for review and offer resources to help you get started.
