Sunshine Coast Health Clinical Measurements Scientist (Respiratory), Darren Smith and Gabbi Schaffer, Sunshine Coast Respiratory Scientist, recently hosted a spirometry education evening for health professionals at SCHI.
Darren explained, ‘The goal of the evening was to upskill in spirometry and bring about detection of respiratory disease in the primary healthcare setting. Earlier diagnosis and treatment will potentially provide better respiratory outcomes and reduced hospital stays.’
They highlighted the importance for highly trained health professionals in a speciality to take ownership, and to provide mentorship and training for primary healthcare services in our Sunshine Coast catchment.
Well done on delivering such a successful spirometry workshop – it was very well received by all who attended.
