Last week our collaborative healthy ageing partners in Sunshine Coast Council, Comlink, Country 2 Coast PHN, UniSC, and Health Ageing Partnerships, proudly welcomed Sunshine Coast community for the first Healthy Ageing Forum for 2026 which focused on information and tools for locals to continue driving safely as long as possible, while also preparing confidently for future transportation needs.

The forum featured expert insights from UniSC Professor of Healthy Ageing, Professor Victoria Traynor, who discussed current research on this topic and provided practical strategies to prepare confidently. We were also very lucky to have QLD Police, RACQ, Intrinsic Health, and a local Sunshine Coast resident join us for an open conversation about their lived experiences and to share their expertise about real-life solutions that respect personal independence and choice.

Attendees also had the opportunity to visit a range of informative stalls, including Sunshine Coast Health Nurse Navigators, Vision Australia, Intrinsic Health Group and Noose Council and our stalls from our healthy ageing partners.

SCHI is proud to support collaborative initiatives like the Healthy Ageing Forum, which empower the Sunshine Coast community with knowledge and tools for preventative health.

If you or know anyone who would like to help research in this space, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the UniSC Healthy Ageing Research Cluster by emailing healthyageing@usc.edu.au.

Save the date! We have 3 forums coming this year! The next forum will be held on Thursday 4 June from 9 am and it will focus on navigating the health care system. This one shouldn’t be missed! To purchase tickets head to Eventbrite.
