The Griffith School of Medicine and Dentistry SCHI Team proudly hosted the first Clinician Training Day for 2026. The event brought together clinical leads and clinicians from Sunshine Coast Health (SCH) for a highly engaging and informative program.

We extend our sincere thanks to Professor Niru Nirthanan, Dean of Medicine, Professor Jennifer Broom, Clinical SubDean, along with associate professors Priscilla Martin and Peter Manders, Phase 2/3 Leads, and Brad Mercer, Placements and Partnerships Team Leader, for their leadership throughout the session. We also acknowledge the outstanding work and contributions of our professional staff for coordinating a seamless and impactful event.

The training day offered a rich program that included updates on curriculum and strategy, discussions on professionalism, insights into teaching adult learners from Dr Sara Lucas, Director of Clinical Training, and reflections on medical humanities from A/Prof Priscilla Martin. Each component contributed to an environment of shared learning and professional growth.

This initiative was strongly supported by Sunshine Coast Health leadership, including Executive Director Medical Services Dr Marlene Pearce, and benefited from the active participation and engagement of clinicians across Sunshine Coast Health departments. The collaboration demonstrated throughout the day highlights the exceptional potential of the Sunshine Coast Health community to advance medical education, research and ultimately, patient care.

The school looks forward to continuing these sessions to further strengthen our collaborative, education focused, and research driven environment.
